A society with a dysfunctional elite is one that is not long for this world. It’s an iron law of politics that elites are the ones who ultimately call the shots.
However, not all elites are created equally. The current elites at the helm are depraved to say the least. And it’s not just their lifestyles. Their political views are absolutely repulsive. Worse yet, they have the power and influence to make their wacky political views a reality.
Most of the problems America is currently facing are the product of this pseudo-elite’s visions. Indeed, these elites are cut from a different cloth. In previous epochs, notably the Gilded Age, America’s elites worked to advance the national interest.
To be sure, the so-called “Robber Barons” of the late 19th century had their flaws but they still tried to preserve the American Nation and did not try to actively undermine like today’s elites. These entrepreneurs set up philanthropic foundations, business, and universities to ensure a more prosperous life for their posterity.
The current ruling class, on other hand, lives in the moment and does not care about planning for the future, let alone creating a better future for their posterity. Unsurprisingly, the US is confronted with a massive socio-economic crisis that could fundamentally alter our living standards for the worst.
Since elites define the way politics and economic affairs go, America needs a new set of elites to rise up and challenge the present set of elites. If it can’t shake off its present elites, it will be on the fast track to civilization decay.
